Dr. Karen Horton is an internationally board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in cosmetic and reconstructive procedures for women. Certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, she has been providing expert, patient-focused care at her boutique Pacific Heights practice in San Francisco since 2006. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to natural, long-lasting results, Dr. Horton creates a warm and welcoming experience for her patients.

With a passion for breast reconstruction, Dr. Horton utilizes advanced microsurgical techniques, including DIEP flap procedures, nipple-sparing mastectomies, and single-stage implant reconstruction. She also specializes in cosmetic breast surgery, including augmentation, lifts, reductions, and complex revision procedures. As a mother of twins, she has a personal understanding of the changes pregnancy brings and offers comprehensive “Mommy Makeover” procedures to help women restore their confidence.

Dr. Horton earned her MD from the University of Toronto, followed by an intensive Plastic Surgery residency in Canada and a Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellowship in San Francisco. She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and serves as an oral examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She is also an active educator, speaker, and peer reviewer for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, regularly presenting at national and international conferences.

Outside of surgery, Dr. Horton is passionate about fitness and an advocate for a healthy lifestyle, encouraging her patients to reach their wellness goals before undergoing major procedures. She enjoys running, Peloton, and Pure Barre and lives in Marin County with her husband and twin daughters.
